Acne scars aren't all the same. Treating them as if they were is why most facials and over-the-counter products don't work. The doctor needs to know what's actually on your skin before choosing how to treat it.
Type 02
Boxcar scars
Wider depressions with sharp, defined edges. Look like rectangular indentations on the skin surface. Common across the cheeks and jawline.
Type 03
Rolling scars
Shallow, wave-like depressions caused by fibrous bands pulling the skin down from underneath. The skin looks uneven even when the scars themselves are not deep.
Type 04
Keloid scars
Raised, thickened scars that grow beyond the original wound. Different in nature from the three above and treated with a different approach.
Type 05
Mixed scars
A combination of two or more scar types on the same skin. The most common pattern in real cases — and the one that most needs a doctor to assess which combination is dominant before treatment begins.

Will it hurt?
Most clients tolerate the treatment well. Numbing cream is applied before the procedures begin and is included in the session time. Mild discomfort during certain modalities is normal but manageable. The doctor checks in throughout the session and adjusts intensity if needed.
How much downtime should I expect?
It depends on which two modalities the doctor selects for your session. Most clients experience mild redness, slight swelling, or sensitivity for a few days. Lighter combinations (microneedling + chemical peeling, for example) have shorter recovery. Deeper combinations (CO₂ laser + subcision) can take longer to settle. The doctor explains expected downtime before each session so you can plan around it.
When will I see results?
Early texture improvement often appears within 2 to 4 weeks. Collagen remodelling continues for 8 to 12 weeks or longer after each session. Most clients see meaningful change after completing several sessions, not after one. Scar improvement is cumulative — each session builds on the previous one.
How many sessions will I actually need?
The trial covers 2 sessions, which is enough for the doctor and you to assess how your skin responds. After that, the recommended number depends on scar depth, type, and how your skin remodels. Some clients see strong improvement within 4 to 6 sessions. Deeper or more complex scars may need more. The doctor gives you a realistic estimate after your first session, not before.
Can scars be completely removed?
No. Acne scars rarely disappear entirely, regardless of who treats them or what equipment is used. The realistic goal of the ScarAway™ Program is meaningful improvement — smoother texture, reduced depth, better tone. Any clinic promising complete scar removal is overselling.
Can the program treat my type of scar?
The program is designed for rolling scars, boxcar scars, ice-pick scars, and mixed scar patterns. Keloid scars are managed differently and assessed separately. The doctor identifies your dominant scar type during the free assessment and tells you honestly whether the program is the right fit. If it isn't, they'll explain why and what would be more suitable.
Is it safe for darker skin tones?
Yes. The doctor adjusts modality selection and treatment parameters based on skin tone to reduce the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation. Darker skin tones require more careful protocol management, which is why doctor-led assessment matters more, not less.
What happens if I want to stop after the trial?
You're under no obligation to continue. The trial is structured as a complete experience — assessment, two sessions, post-treatment guidance. Continuing the program is a separate decision based on what the doctor sees and what you decide.
